Fantasy Football Week 3 Waiver Wire Recommendations 2013/2014
Not sure which players to target off the waiver wire for Week 3 (based on less than 60% ownership)? Look no further, we have you covered:
Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers: I do find it tough to add Rivers here given the many years of optimism and disappointment in previous seasons. However, you have to respect the statistics, and right now, they are well and truly in Philip’s favor. 614 yards, seven touchdowns and only one intercept through two games.
Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears: Da Bears are 2-0, and Jay is doing his part. Sure, the intercepts and fumbles are a worry, but he is passing the ball around and has thrown for multiple touchdowns. You could do worse at quarterback.
James Starks (pictured), Green Bay Packers: Who saw this one coming? 8 yards receiving in week one, 132 yards rushing and 36 yards receiving in week two, include a touchdown. Ok, Lacy was injured in the first quarter, but he’s certainly worth a look, especially if Lacy were to miss time. He’ll more than likely be available in most leagues!!!
Knowshon Moreno, Denver Broncos: Someone had to emerge out of the Broncos backfield as the clear leader. Week one didn’t prove much, but week two definitely did. 93 yards, two touchdowns on only 13 carries. It helps when you need to respect the pass with Peyton at the helm.
Bernard Pierce, Baltimore Ravens: Probably one of the most coveted handcuffs in fantasy, Ray Rice was injured late in week two, and in steps Pierce, contributing 57 yards and a touchdown. A must own right now.
Joique Bell, Detroit Lions: Reggie Bush is injured… have you heard that before? Well done to those owners that saw this coming and grabbed Bell early. If Bush is out for an extended period of time, Bell would be a fantastic addition. Already has over 160 all-purpose yards and a touchdown through two games.
Eddie Royal, San Diego Chargers: I thought week one was an anomaly, but clearly it wasn’t. Three touchdowns on 7 passes against the Eagles, makes it 5 touchdowns on the season. Malcolm Floyd also could be sidelined for an extended period of time with a neck injury. See Rivers, Philip.
DeAndre Hopkins, Houston Texans: Coming up big early on for those owners that took a chance. Thus far, 183 yards and a touchdown in two games. Oh, and Andre Johnson was left with a concussion against the Titans, meaning he could be in-line for extra workload.
Marlon Brown, Baltimore Ravens: An injury to Jacoby Jones paved the way for Brown to enter the starting line-up. He hasn’t disappointed, with 2 touchdowns in as many games. Could be even more valuable if Ray Rice is out for an extended period of time meaning the Ravens will look to go to the air more often.
Martellus Bennett, Chicago Bears: Excellent game winning touchdown against the Vikings. Three touchdowns and 125 yards on the season thus far. If you have a top tier tight end, you could add Bennett, and opt for a trade to improve your team elsewhere. See Cutler, Jay.
Coby Fleener, Indianapolis Colts: Should have actually caught two touchdowns on the weekend. Luck is starting to build chemistry with him.
That’s it for this week. As always, we welcome any feedback or questions you may have about your fantasy team!
